Introduction to Low
What is “low”?
This poem is an attempt to answer that question—not with a single definition, but through a journey of reflection. It explores the many facets of "low" in modern life: the personal, the societal, the psychological, the spiritual, and more. Each line invites you to confront, consider, and connect with the world around you and within you.
Trigger Warning: You may find this poem unsettling, overwhelming, confronting, even provocative. That is by design. It is meant to awaken awareness, to disrupt the ease with which we sometimes accept what is destructive or harmful. At its core, Low is a challenge—a call to examine what diminishes us and to rise beyond it.
Read actively, thoughtfully. Pause when a line strikes you, follow where it leads, and reflect on its truth in your life. A clear path out of “low” is not given here; it is yours to find.
Begin where you are, and rise.
